Our Approach to Sustainability

Workplaces That Work

From design to delivery, we put people and the planet at the centre of every workplace project.

At Sketch Studios, sustainability isn’t a buzzword. It’s at the heart of how we design, source, deliver, and support every project. As a B Corp and Gold EcoVadis rated business, we’re serious about doing right by people and the planet – and we’ve built it into everything we do. That means prioritising circularity over consumption, and developing partnerships rather than working in isolation. From take-back schemes and collaborations with social enterprises to our focus on circular design, we act where it counts.

Designing with the Future in Mind

A framework for sustainable design from start to finish.

Every Sketch project begins with a simple question: what can we reuse, rework, or reimagine? We believe sustainability starts at the design stage, when choices about materials, sourcing, and decommissioning are first on the table.

Through our Circular Design Framework, we help clients look beyond the new and consider reclaimed or second-life products wherever possible. We bring refurbishment, reupholstery, and upcycling into the mix, extending the lifespan of existing pieces. We prioritise sustainably certified materials, such as FSC or Cradle to Cradle, and we design with the future in mind – making sure everything is easy to disassemble, adaptable, and ready for reuse.

Responsible Supply, Real Impact

Working only with accredited partners to cut emissions and build transparent, circular supply chains.

Through Industry EcoConnect, we only work with suppliers who meet the same environmental and ethical standards that we hold ourselves to. We carry out regular audits and factory visits to make sure those standards are met in practice. Our supply chains are deliberately short, transparent, and focused on the UK (or the specific project location), and we prioritise suppliers who are committed to circular processes like take-back schemes, repair, and reuse.

On top of that, our targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which shows we’re committed to transparency and cutting our carbon emissions in line with the latest climate science.

People & Planet

Supporting people, communities, and the planet.

Sustainability goes beyond carbon. It’s about people, communities, and how resources are used. That’s why our work also reaches into the community through:

  • RAW Workshop: A social enterprise that makes high-quality furniture from reclaimed materials, while giving people with lived experience of homelessness, addiction, and mental health recovery the chance to build skills and confidence. Raw Workshop also run youth programmes and organise community clean-up days.
  • AMS Foundation: Through AMS, we’ve donated more than 700 items to schools, charities, and community groups – helping them furnish spaces in a way that’s both affordable and sustainable.

These partnerships are part of our B Corp commitment to balancing profit with purpose.

Project Positive

Carbon removal and social value.

Project Positive is our way of making sure every Sketch project gives back – to people, planet and place.

This initiative helps our clients make their projects more sustainable and socially impactful, while also giving us the chance to show our shared commitment to creating real change.

Here’s how it works:

  • We invest in carbon removal on all major projects, with the option for clients to match our commitment.
  • We prioritise circular procurement, choosing products and materials with reuse and longevity in mind.
  • We encourage community engagement, whether that’s through local volunteering, donations, or sharing design expertise.

It’s a clear framework that builds climate action and community benefit into the heart of our work.

Independent Accreditations

Recognition for doing things the right way.

We don’t just talk about doing the right thing – we back it up with recognised standards:

  • B Corp Certified – independently verified for how we treat people, communities, customers and the planet.
  • EcoVadis Gold – ranked in the top 5% of companies worldwide for sustainability.
  • ISO 14001 – certified for strong environmental management practices.
  • Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – our carbon reduction pathway is independently validated.
  • Registered Waste Carrier – licensed to handle waste responsibly and recycle properly.

Making Sustainability Visible

Our Sustainability Services

We think sustainability should be simple to understand and easy to share. That’s why we offer:

  • FF&E audits to identify what can be reused, donated, or recycled
  • Clear carbon impact comparisons between new and reused products
  • End-of-life guides for every product, showing how to take them apart and dispose of them responsibly
  • Project impact reports highlighting reuse levels, donation volumes, and CO₂ savings

Sustainability with Sketch

We know our work has impact. So we’ve chosen to make that impact positive.

Our goal is to design workplaces that are not just beautiful and functional – but ethical, future-proof and low-impact. That means asking different questions, pushing for better answers, and working only with people who share our mindset.

Let’s build a workplace that works for the planet.
