Area Sq and Cube are merging to create Area

08 May 2017

Fourfront Group are delighted to announce the forthcoming merger of Area Sq and Cube Interior Solutions to create Area, one of the largest workplace design and fit-out specialists in the UK market.

The new company which will operate under the Area brand, will have revenues in excess of £150m and employ over 200 individuals, operating between our Surrey campus in Egham and Central London office.

Area’s comprehensive service will now cover all fit out procurement routes: design and build, detail and build and traditional.

Clive Lucking, CEO of Fourfront commented: “When we launched Area Sq as a design & build company and  Cube as a traditional fit out contractor we offered the market two very distinctive services through separate companies.  The design & fit out market has evolved, especially with the proliferation of “detail & build” projects which are led by professional teams; this has generated an overlap between our two brands, creating ambiguity as to where projects sat and it was imperative we responded to this by simplifying our service offering. The decision to merge Area Sq and Cube is a true demonstration of our customer-centric ethos, placing strong relationships with professional teams as a core focus”.

As part of the merger, Gary Chandler Area Sq Regions MD, has been promoted to CEO of Area and will form a new Executive Leadership Team alongside Trevor Hall (founder and MD of Cube), Sion Davies (MD of Area Sq London), Lee Marple (Group Operations Director) and James Geekie (Area Sq Regions Design Director).

Gary Chandler says:” I am incredibly proud to be leading Area through this exciting new chapter. Client experience is at the heart of everything we do and drives us to continuously improve our service offering and invest in our staff. Becoming one company will strengthen our Excellence in Delivery programme by streamlining our processes, improving collaboration across teams as well as helping to attract and retain talent”.

Trevor Hall: “Having formed Cube 12 years ago I am hugely proud of our achievements to date. We have built a robust business with prestigious clients. The merger creates the perfect platform for growth and positions us as one of the leading contractors in the UK market, offering multiple procurement options for our clients. We are one of the most exciting growth stories in our industry, and we still have huge ambitions for the Group”.

The new Area brand will officially launch on 3rd July 2017. Fourfront Group will then consist of three separate business: Area, Sketch Studios, specialising in office furniture & logistics and 360 Workplace offering workplace consultancy.
